WARNING TO PRICE SHOPPERS

When shopping for a home inspector, please be aware that the State of Ohio currently has NO LAWS regulating home inspectors. Anyone can claim that they are a home inspector. Here are some questions to ask when price shopping.

(Q) Is your home inspector qualified? Are they properly trained?

(A) I have 17 years experience in the construction and inspection industry combined.  I am a former graduate of New Castle School of Trades in building construction and a graduate of Kaplan University's Inspection Training Associates (ITA) program. I am also licensed by the state of Ohio to perform (WDI) Wood Destroying Insect Inspections. I belong to the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors which requires me to take a minimum of 24 hours of continuing education every year (The most amount of hours required by any home inspector organization)

.

(Q) What is the scope of the home inspection? Do you follow a code of ethics?

(A) I follow the Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics of the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors. A copy of which can be viewed below.

(A) Yes, I belong to the InterInternational Association of Certified Home Inspectors (InterNACHI), which is the world's largest, most elite non-profit inspection association. Each client enjoys the HI Experience® only InterNACHI Certified Inspectors can provide. I have successfully passed InterNACHI's Inspector Examination, taken a Standards of Practice Quiz, completed a Code of Ethics Course, adhere to Standards of Practice, abide by a Code of Ethics, attend required continuing education courses, and am InterNACHI Certified. (Q) Is your home inspector insured?

(A) Absolutely. Any home inspector not carrying insurance does not have their client's best interest at heart. No one is perfect and a mistake made can leave a client holding the bag. I carry insurance through the Foundation of Real Estate Appraisers (FREA).

.

(Q) Does your home inspector warranty their work?

(A) Yes, I believe in the work I perform and back it with a 90 day limited structural & mechanical warranty for buyers and up to 120 days for sellers. To view the warranties click below.
